Recently Steven Schenkman was asked to join a group of recognized leaders in the massage therapy industry to begin blogging for Massage Magazine’s website. WWW.massagemag.com, the online division of Massage Magazine, one of the fields oldest and most well known professional publications, made the decision to provide its readership with a cadre of professional leaders willing to offer their opinions, insights, perspectives and knowledge about a variety of subjects related to the field and their experience.
Each member of the group was asked to choose a particular subject matter and theme for their blog. Steven chose “Everything Education.” Given his background and history in this field as a practitioner, teacher, organizational leader, college president and consultant to career, business and allied health schools and colleges, Steve felt he could contribute the most by blogging about different issues in the education of massage therapists. Thus far he has written about the importance of continuing education for massage professionals and the field of Asian Bodywork Therapy. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is also an important part of his blog.
A blog, which is short for the terms ‘web log,’ and most often maintained by an individual, is generally a series of regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material including commentary or news on a particular subject. Some blogs may function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic.
